HOLEP surgery is a type of laser surgery used to treat the blockage (blockage) of urine flow as a result of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). In men with HBP, the prostate is not cancerous but became enlarged. An enlarged prostate can result in several urinary tract symptoms such as the frequency of urination, the inability to urinate, the difficulty of starting urination, or loss of control of the bladder.
HOLEP is short for the holmium laser enucleation of the prostate. The use of Holmium laser can perform a low-invasive treatment for the BPH by attaching most of the blessed prostate excess fabric. In other words, a holmium laser can eliminate the expanded tissues from the interior of the prostate without cutting it. The HOLEP procedure lasts an average of 45 minutes to two hours, depending on the size of the prostate.
Like other types of prostate laser surgery, HOLEP can offer faster recovery and symptom relief and cost effective compared to traditional prostate surgery. Rarely, re-treatment with HOLEP may be necessary for urinary symptoms.
